Displacers; Who are They and What do They Want?
Displacers. We know them, Displaced generally seem to hate them. But who and what are they?
Displacers are simply Void Dwellers who decide to, well, Displaced various beings. They do so for various reasons, though some do so because they have found a way to power themselves via the motion of Displacement or because they wish to observe the possibility that whomever they Displace will reach Void Dweller status much like Aaron Heibai had.
In general, however, Displacers are an incredibly disjointed group whose motivations are found only on a case by case basis, whose methods are as different as their various shapes and powers, and whose abilities differ on a massive scale.
Let us examine the two most visible Displacers- The Merchant and Essence.
The Merchant is, quite frankly, a mysterious and horribly vague entity. Even amongst other Void Dwellers, he is a strange and unknown being whose motives and methods are odd and ill defined at best. Perhaps he follows the general trend of gaining power from the timeline split that Displacement causes. Perhaps he simply wants to see how many Displaced will make it to Void Dweller status. Whatever the case is, his motivations are his own.
Essence is much different from the Merchant. For instance, she makes it a point to remain at least somewhat tangentially invested in the lives of those she Displaces. She also tends to be far more random and, well, Mad, as the Embodiment of Madness.
As a whole, Displacers have their own motivations for doing things, though some, perhaps, seem to follow one of three trains of thought:

As a whole, Displacers have their own motivations for doing things, though some, perhaps, seem to follow one of three trains of thought:
- Absorb the power generated from the timeline split created when a Displaced is made
- Observe the potential creation of a new Void Dweller
- Save the lives of some special mortals.
